MULTI-FLOWER HONEY From Our Own Beehive
Oriental Hotel Okinawa Resort & Spa has partnered with Okinawa Bee Happy, a family of beekeepers who produce honey in its natural state on Yagaji Island in the northern part of Okinawa. The hotel has created original menu items using this honey which will be available at the Lobby Lounge and Club Lounge from Monday, September 19.
In May 2022, our hotel set up our own beehive on Yagaji Island and started collecting the natural honey throughout the summer. In the beekeeping industry, sugar water and other similar food is given to the bees to give them energy especially in order to survive the winter. At Bee Happy the bees live solely on flower nectar.
In our Club Lounge (only for suite room / club room guests), in addition to pure honey, our chef's have created original honey blends with Okinawan flavors. And the Lobby Lounge will be serving original menu items for your enjoyment.

Product Details
This 100% Okinawan honey is produced on Yagaji Island in the northern part of Okinawa. The main source of nectar comes from melaleuca leucadendra (the myrtle family) and bidens (or burr marigolds) which grow naturally on Yagaji Island. The honey produced from these flowers which are strong enough to withstand Okinawa's strong sunlight and heat is characterized by its rich aroma and a deep fruity but mellow flavor. We hope you will enjoy this unique local product.

In addition to pure honey, our chefs have prepared two other honey blends: a comfiture created by simmering honey together with oranges and a sauce made by caramelizing honey together with a brown sugar syrup. The addition of other flavors enhances the aroma of the honey. If you mix 2 or 3 different ones together, you can still enjoy the flavor and aroma of each of them independently.

Honey Pickled Bitter Melon & Seasonal Vegetables
Honey vinegar and Okinawan salt are used for the marinade. Locally grown produce such as bitter melon and yellow cucumber are purchased directly from the farmer's market to create this healthy and tasty dish.

Bitter Melon Juice & Honey Float
The juice is made from passion fruit and honey added to bitter melon juice. The fresh fruit flavor of the passion fruit and the sweetness of the honey very nicely suppress the bitterness of the bitter melon. And you can add extra honey on the side as you like. The creaminess of the vanilla ice cream adds extra texture and flavor leaving you with an unexpected lovely impression of a bitter melon float.

Okinawan Donuts & Vanilla Ice Cream with Orange Honey Sauce & Lemon Comfiture
An Okinawa donut is called Sata Andagi which means a sweet fried food. Carmelized sugar is usually made in a frying pan with vinegar added, but for this dish we have carmelized the honey (without vinegar) and added an orange sauce the pairs well with it. The freshly made warm donuts with the cold ice cream and the citrus honey sauce has a uniquely refreshing taste that is not too sweet.
